Feasibility study for the stablishement and operation of a Common/ Central Treatment Facility for Hospital Waste in Pokhara City under PPP arrangements

The Government of Nepal is adopting Public Private Partnership (PPP) as a viable development tool to mobilize private resources for the sustainable provision of services and infrastructure in Nepal. During the past years of project implementation in several partner municipalities, the services have demonstrably improved under operation by private operators or community based groups. The objective of the feasibility study is to develop an environmentally sound and cost effective healthcare waste management system using PPP modality for Pokhara City.

The consultant covered the following aspects to prepare the report: 

• Suggest appropriate technologies for the treatment of health care waste based upon the types, quantities of infectius and otherwise hazardous waste found in the city.
• Provide specifications and cost estimates of various treatment technologies and equipements required.
• Provide reliable cost estimates of physucal infrastructure requirements including waste transportation arrangements.
• Conduct market analysis and financial viability of the CTF.
