International Water and Sanitation Centre (IRC)

Sharing information and learning together with partners, IRC is committed to changing a world where 1 billion people lack access to safe water and 2.5 billion people live without proper sanitation. Their work supports a variety of partners including NGOs, private sector and governments to help:

• Young children to avoid water-borne diseases;
• Older children to complete an education that includes hygiene as well as grammar and maths;
• Women to escape the daily drudgery of fetching water and searching for a place to relieve themselves;
• Communities to implement sanitation schemes that are effective, popular and affordable;
• Water to flow for crops, animals and livelihoods.
